This is an important role, providing support to the Scientific Committee, its leadership, meetings and work programme. The wide-ranging responsibilities of the post also include facilitating communication and co-ordination between science and other areas of the IWC work programme, supporting the strategic development of the Secretariat, and management of a small team. The postholder is also Editor of the Journal of Cetacean Research and Management. The successful candidate will: * hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (Zoology, Marine Biology, Fisheries Science, Environmental/Fisheries Policy etc.) * have the ability to explain complex scientific information to a non-specialist audience and the ability to form credible relationships with scientists, Contracting Governments and other stakeholders * have a track record of delivering work on time and on budget * have extensive knowledge of the peer review process and experience of working in an editorial or similar role * be able to lead, develop and empower a team This full-time (37.5 hours), permanent post will be based at the IWC headquarters in Impington.
