Dear Marmam community, It is my and my co-author's pleasure to announce the open-access publication of our note, 'Skittish Males in High Latitudes: Complex Social and Acoustic Response of Adult Male Sperm Whales When Harassed by Orcas,' in Marine Mammal Science. This is an opportunistic report, and we hope this paper can lend itself to more in-depth research on orca/sperm whale interactions. Within, we detail four instances of orcas harassing sperm whales in northern Norway as documented from a whale watching vessel. In one instance we have recorded audio where, using a series of clangs and codas, one male sperm whale appears to call to other sperm whales nearby when approached by a group of orcas. This results in three sperm whales forming a defensive position against the harassing orcas. This audio, detailed in our paper, has also been made publicly available for potential use in other studies. Cheers, Emily Cosentino, M., E. T. Griffiths, J. A. van Dam, and C.
