Over the last 8 months, the Discovery of Sound in the Sea (DOSITS) <http://www.dosits.org/> Team has been facilitating a free, five-part webinar series for the international regulatory community on topics related to underwater sound. Presentations have covered the topics of sound movement and sound measurement; ocean noise variability and noise budgets; sound production and reception in marine animals; the potential effects of sound on marine mammals; and the potential effects of sound on marine fishes. All previous webinars have been archived in video form to the DOSITS website; associated webinar outlines, summaries, as well as pdf versions of presentations are also available for download. Topics already identified for further discussion include particle motion vs pressure detection in marine fishes; stress response, in marine mammals, to anthropogenic sound; potential impacts to marine mammals from airgun exposure; and an expanded discussion on behavioral response studies in marine mammals.
