On April 6, 2015, National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) announced a 90-day finding on a petition to list the Gulf of Mexico Bryde’s whale (*Balaenoptera edeni*) as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act. ​ We determined that the petition presented substantial scientific or commercial information indicating that the petitioned action may be warranted. Accordingly, ​we ​ are conducting a review of the status of this species to determine if the petitioned action is warranted. To ensure that the status review is comprehensive, we opened a 60-day public comment period on April 6, 2015, to solicit information pertaining to this species. The public comment period is coming to a close soon. Any information or comments on the subject action must be received by June 5, 2015.
