Research Fellowships at the University of St Andrews, Scotland.
Apologies if this has already been posted to the list (though I haven't seen it). While the ad comes from too high up the university to mention SMRU, marine mammals are covered by the (long) list of possible topics for these fellowships: : 3 Research Fellowships MASTS Salary: £30,424 - £36,298 per annum, Start Date: The Fellowships are available immediately and should start no later than 31 October 2013. Fixed Term: 36 months Closing Date: 10 July 2013 Please quote ref: ME1348AR The University of St Andrews wishes to appoint up to 3 independent Research Fellows in Marine Science as part of the Marine Alliance for Science & Technology (MASTS) pooling initiative of the Scottish Funding Council. The Fellowships which come with start-up funds will be held at the Scottish Oceans Institute (http://soi.st-andrews.ac.uk/) in one of the participating academic Schools of Biology, Geography & Geoscience or Mathematics & Statistics (Centre for Environmental & Ecological Modeling, CREEM). Applicants should have a First Degree and PhD in a relevant discipline plus an excellent track record of publications in leading journals. The successful candidates will be supported to develop an independent research group although collaborations with existing research teams are also encouraged. There are no restrictions to the field of study within the Marine Sciences although the University is especially keen to promote interdisciplinary studies. Applications in the following areas are particularly welcome: marine microbiology and virology, marine biotechnology, coastal change, developmental and/or evolutionary genomics, higher predator biology, physical oceanography (in particular ocean dynamics/circulation and climate), biogeochemistry, molecular biology/omics, stable isotope geochemistry (in particular with C and N cycles), geobiology, population modelling, marine statistical ecology, spatial modelling, modelling biodiversity, estimating animal abundance, animal movement models.
