Dear colleagues, We are very pleased to share with you the details of a new citizen science project coming out of the Sea Mammal Research Unit in St Andrews, Scotland. SMRUsealpred (http://www.smru.st-andrews.ac.uk/sealpred/) is investigating the prevalence of grey seal-inflicted mortality on marine mammals. As many of you will be aware, both in the UK and overseas, some individual grey seal males kill and feed on marine mammals (including grey seals, harbour seals, and harbour porpoises). Our webpage provides people both within and outwith the scientific community to submit reports, along with images and videos, of anything that may be related to this behaviour. From this, we hope to gain a better understanding of how prevalent and geographically widespread this behaviour is in Europe. We are requesting your help to spread the word about this project.
