National Marine Fisheries Service Northeast Region Protected Resources Division Marine Mammal Program Assistants Job Announcement The National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries) is seeking applicants for program assistants in marine mammal policy and management. The positions are located in the Protected Resources Division of NOAA Fisheries' Northeast Regional Office. The positions are responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and oversight of Take Reduction Plans under the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA). Specifically, the positions are expected to provide staff support services, analyze data, and makes recommendations on complex fishery resource problems. Assignments may include, but are not limited to: assessment of impacts of projects or license applications on marine mammal resources; managing marine mammal resources; formulating and recommending policies, practices and procedures affecting fishery management efforts; assuring compliance with take reduction plans; analyzing data and coordinating studies of marine mammal population; preparation of a variety of written reports, plans, agreements and/or environmental impact statements.
