We are pleased to announce we will be hosting a FREE JCDP workshop at the 34th European Cetacean Society Conference in Galicia, Spain on Monday 17th of April and we hope you can join us!

Title: Joint Cetacean Data Programme; developing a data community

JCDP background:

The Joint Cetacean Data Programme (JCDP) aims to better facilitate access to and use of effort-related cetacean survey data, by collating the growing evidence-base from across the northeast Atlantic into a single accessible resource. The JCDP is a collaboration with partners from across the region, with representation from policy makers, academics, marine industry and NGOs. The JCDP encourages data collectors to make standardised high-quality data more readily available to increase the value and enable development of data products to better inform research and policy.

For more information about the JCDP, please visit the JCDP Information Hub: jncc.gov.uk/jcdp

The ECS conference offers a unique opportunity for the WGJCDP to engage with the cetacean community to gain insight and inspiration for the future of the JCDP, through a dedicated workshop.

Workshop aims:

1. Engage with new potential data providers
2. Identify barriers to submitting data & how we can overcome them
3. Understand priorities for open access data products based on JCDP data
4. Discuss priorities for potential diversification of the JCPD system for other data types
