The Northeast Student Chapter (NESC) of the Society for Marine Mammalogy (SMM) is excited to announce our 4th Annual Conference, happening on Saturday April 4th, with an optional event on Sunday April 5th! 

We invite undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates, and postdocs from the Northeast United States (including Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania) who are interested in marine mammal science to register and attend. Presenting at the conference is not required to attend, so whether you are presenting research or simply looking to learn and network, we’d love for you to join us!

We are honored to announce two keynote speakers that will be presenting on their research and careers in addition to our student presenters. Our speakers are: Dr. Nadine Lysiak, a research scientist at the New England Aquarium studying North Atlantic Right Whale ecophysiology; Amanda Holdman, an acoustician with the NOAA Northeast Fisheries Science Center studying odontocetes in the Northwest Atlantic; and we are currently working to confirm a third speaker and look forward to sharing that announcement soon. We are thrilled to host these amazing marine mammal scientists and encourage everyone to come to the conference to learn from and get to know them! 

Please note that registration is required whether you are in-person or virtual, and there is a small but OPTIONAL fee of $30 to help cover food and supply costs (breakfast, snacks, coffee, and lunch on Saturday). As always, whatever money is unused at the end will be returned back to you. If you do not wish to pay this fee, you may still attend, but you will have to pack your own food.
