Summer- Research Assistant-
North Atlantic right whale behavior
Sustainable Seas Technology is a 501(c)(3) that focuses on collaborative work with the fishing industry and the conservation community. We primarily work to test and promote innovative fishing gear technology that economically sustains small fishing communities while also protecting whales and other marine life from entanglement in fishing gear.
We are looking for a student to assist us in assimilating materials for a literature review focusing on North Atlantic right whale (NARW) behavior. This review process will require the candidate to be self-motivated, organized, and thorough. It is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build relationships within the North Atlantic right whale conservation community and will also require the individual to have excellent communication skills. Emails and phone calls will play a large role in gathering data and following up on leads.
Responsibilities
This is an independent contractor position that begins immediately and will pay a flat rate at the middle and end of the review period (4 weeks), for a total of $2,000. You will be working closely with our senior staff and can set your own schedule, as long as the work is completed by project deadlines. The application period opens May 17th and closes May 21st. Interviews will be conducted the week of May 22-28th.
