Passive Acoustic Monitoring Course - British Columbia (EDGEWISE ENVIRONMENTAL)

The
Edgewise Environmental Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) Operator
course is a comprehensive program that focuses on passive acoustic
mitigation processes of marine environmental projects that may impact
marine mammals. Offshore and coastal activities covered include, but are
not limited to seismic exploration, renewable energy, dredging, and
pile driving. These activities and associated mitigative actions shall
be discussed in relation to the “Species at Risk Act” and “Statement of
Canadian Practice with Respect to the Mitigation of Seismic Sound in
the Marine Environment”. The course consists of 3 weeks of online
theory, with two in-person sessions taking place on March 14th and 15th
in Vancouver, BC. In person days include spending time getting familiar
with PAMGUARD and a day on a vessel deploying, monitoring and
implementing the learning objectives of the course.
