Dear All,

As former students, post docs and collaborators of Roger Payne, we have written an In Memoriam in Marine Mammal Science to commemorate a very inspirational and influential whale conservation scientist who did more to save the great whales than any, and who raised a whole generation of whale scientists to study live whales at sea rather than dead on a flensing deck.
