Dear MARMAM group readers,

Greetings of the day and best wishes from the Aquatic Animal Virtopsy Lab (https://www.facebook.com/AAVLab2014) at City University of Hong Kong.

Time flies! Our highlight of the year - the "2024 International Cetacean Symposium & Workshop" https://aavlab2014.wixsite.com/aavlab2014/2024ics - our annual scientific meet and practical workshop, is fast-approaching!

On 7 to 8 September 2024, we will host the symposium in the City University of Hong Kong (CityU HK) for FREE. This year we are honoured to co-organise the 2024 International Cetacean Symposium with the National Museum of Nature and Science (Japan) and the Plan Ocean (Korea). It is our great pleasure to invite local, regional and international cetacean experts to share their research works and latest techniques/technologies on health assessment and stranding investigation in the symposium (See attached flyers for invited speakers). We welcome everyone who is keen on cetaceans and stranding investigation to attend physically!

In addition, a 2-day workshop (see attached flyer) aims to reconcile several important conventional and revolutionary techniques for cetacean health assessment and stranding investigation, will be held on 8 (afternoon), 9 (whole day) and 10 (afternoon) September 2024, including a resident dolphin boat survey in Hong Kong waters (subject to weather condition). Registration is limited to 20 participants and cost per person is only HK$1,500 (light refreshment, lunch meals, coffee breaks, boat trip fare and related materials, and insurance). Seats are limited with first come first served basis.

Prior registration is ESSENTIAL to get the access right to the venue of both events.
