Dear MARMAN Members,
On a Research Trip to South America we found in a Museum near Montevideo in Uruguay, a skeleton of a Southern Right Whale with an lot of bony excrescence on several vertebras.

Does anybody seen a skeleton with such a deformation?

Does anybody know what could be the cause for such bony outgrowths?

And, more theoretical, what could be the impact of the whales live?
