Stockton University (Galloway, NJ), Orsted Ocean Wind, and Azura Consulting will offer a Protected Species
Observer (PSO) Course September 16 to October 8, 2022 at Stockton University Marine Field Station. This lecture and field-based PSO course will run for four weeks on Friday evenings (5-8pm) and Saturdays (9am-5pm).
Protected Species Observers (PSO) help minimize potential impacts of human activities on federally protected marine mammals and sea turtles. PSOs monitor these animals during coastal and offshore projects, including construction, geophysical surveys, and explosive
blasting. Upon course completion and passing the exam, students receive an industry accepted PSO certification. Taught by experienced PSOs and marine mammal scientists with experience in the mid-Atlantic and northeastern US, this training focuses on monitoring
protected species in coastal NJ and surrounding regions.
