"Living Under Pressure: Suitable Areas for an Endangered Coastal Dolphin Overlap With Intense Human Activities", published in Aquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems (Vol. 35, Issue 6).

Our study shows that 90% of suitable habitats for Guiana dolphins (Sotalia guianensis) in the Sepetiba–Ilha Grande Bays (SB-IGB) overlap with intense human activities, including ports, shipping routes, industrial areas and dredged channels. The species' preference for shallow, restricted areas within this estuarine complex highlights its high exposure to anthropogenic stressors, reinforcing the urgent need for effective management and conservation measures to mitigate risks in these critical feeding and nursing grounds.
