Dear MARMAM readers,

 

SLR Consulting will be offering a 2-day underwater acoustics workshop at the Vancouver International Association of Impact Assessment (May 4^th to the 7^th, 2022 at the East Convention Center). The workshop takes place immediately before the conference begins, on May 2^nd and 3^rd. Participants will leave the workshop with an understanding of the fundamentals of underwater noise, the impact of noise from commercial vessels on marine mammals and fish, and hands-on experience with hydrophones and high-level signal analysis.  By partnering with the IAIA on this endeavor, we can offer the two-day training course at a significantly reduced cost to participants.  The workshop is suitable for a wide range of educational backgrounds and will be tailored to meet the audience's technical needs. Overall, we strive to offer an exciting and immersive 2-day "dive" into the world of underwater sound!
