Island Dolphin Care in Key Largo, Florida is hosting an Introduction to Marine Mammal Medicine course. This course is an incredibly hands-on, and unique opportunity for any student wanting to learn about and participate in marine mammal health and medicine. Applications for our course are being accepted right away.

• Week-long summer courses:
• Summer I: July 15th - 20th, 2019
• Summer II: July 22nd - 27th, 2019
• Cost: $1,225
• Housing and educational materials are included in the cost
• Students will learn:
• Anatomy & physiology
• through lectures & hands-on ultrasound experience
• Health assessments
• students perform daily physical examinations
• Husbandry & behavioral/training basics
• through discussions & assisting training staff
• Lab skills
• students will learn to prepare & analyze dolphin blood smear
• Various other topics including:
• animal welfare, common marine mammal medications and treatments, analyzing ultrasounds and writing reports, diet preparation, etc.
• Certificate of Completion earned upon successful completion of the course
