The University of
Maryland Center for
Environmental Science (UMCES), Chesapeake Biological Laboratory
(CBL) (http://www.umces.edu/cbl),
is
accepting applications for a full-time Faculty Research
Assistant to assist
with a passive acoustic monitoring study for marine mammals off
Maryland.
Duties will include:
- Preparation and maintenance of acoustic equipment
- Deployment and recovery of equipment at sea
- Processing and analysis of
acoustic data
The project will involve the use of an acoustic device called
the C-POD. Experience with these devices, or the earlier version
T-POD, will be
preferable. Applicants should be familiar with Excel. Experience
with sound
analysis software, such as Raven, statistical software packages,
such as R, and
GIS data analysis is also desirable. For more details about the

Minimum requirement is a M.S. degree with specific research
experience on
marine mammal acoustic applications. Individuals with a B.S.
degree and more
than 2 years research experience will be considered. FRA rank
and salary are
dependent upon qualifications and experience. This position is
