In partnership with NOAA and Whale and Dolphin Conservation, the New Bedford Whaling Museum is hosting a 3-part lecture series titled Whales in the Heart of the
Sea. The series leads up to the release of the film In the Heart of the Sea, directed by Ron Howard, and based off Nathaniel Philbrick’s novel about the sinking of the whaleship Essex. Guest speakers include Dr. Michael Moore (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute),
Scott Landry (Center for Coastal Studies), Robert Rocha (New Bedford Whaling Museum), Regina Asmutis-Silvia (Whale & Dolphin Conservation), Dr. Hal Whitehead (Dalhousie University Professor of Biology), Colleen Coogan (NOAA Fisheries), and Michael Harrison
(Chief Curator of the from the Nantucket Historical Society).
Dates: November 3rd, 10th, and 17th
