Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility (AWWU) prepared a biological evaluation (BE) in 2011, for use in reauthorization
of its federal wastewater discharge permit. The work focused on analysis of contaminant pathways associated with the
Cook Inlet Beluga Whale (CIBW) population in Cook Inlet, Alaska. CIBW was identified as an endangered distinct population segment in 2008, in accordance with the federal (U.S.) Endangered Species Act (ESA).
